Building a New Beginning for the Wauhatchie Forest School: Kiwanis' Unique Project

In the heart of Audubon Society in Chattanooga, there once stood an enclosure that housed an injured golden eagle. The enclosure was built with love and care by a group of eagle scouts, but as time passed, the eagle was no longer living in the enclosure. This is where Kiwanis came in with a unique project. They repurposed the enclosure to create a new beginning for the Wauhatchie Forest School. Forest schools are a unique learning environment that have been gaining popularity in recent years, especially during the pandemic. Chattanooga has been a pioneer in this type of education, and Kiwanis played an important role in making it possible for the Wauhatchie Forest School to continue its mission.

The East Brainerd Kiwanis Club is dedicated to providing support to the underserved children of East Brainerd. This project of building a shelter for the Wauhatchie Forest School is a prime example of the club's commitment to serving the community. Kiwanis members contributed not only financially, but also with their time, tools, and labor to make this project a success. The club saw the need for a unique group of students who needed a learning environment for their Forest School. They were not going to receive resources from the city so the club made the decision to help and took action.

If you are someone who finds fulfillment in serving the community and making a difference in the lives of children, we invite you to join us at our next event and see how you can get involved in similar projects. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need right here in East Brainerd and the Greater Chattanooga Area.
